Why, you ask? Because I am blessed (not a word I ever use, mind you, but it’s the only word I can think of at the moment that accurately describes how I feel; weird, I know) to have such a wonderful sister.
I don’t tell her often enough. And I haven’t told her today. But I got a package in the mail yesterday (which I have yet to let her know I received; I, on the other hand, am not a good sister it seems!) as I sometimes do. Usually out of the blue. Or exceptionally late Christmas or birthday presents. In that regard, we’re two peas in a pod. (Her kids might think Auntie Erin celebrates Christmas every July.)
Proof point: On the card she enclosed, she signed off with: “Happy March 20th!” I got it on April 10th.
What I love about her packages, beyond the surprise of getting them: she always makes them extra special with little personal touches.
Proof point: On the card she enclosed, she wrote “something old, something new, somethingy blingy just for you.”
This time, in the box she neatly wrapped each gift and put a pink post-it with old, new, or blingy on the outside of the package.
I am a super emotional person but whenever I get something like this from my sister it always make me shed a few happy tears. We’ve been through a lot together and at times didn’t get along so great (you know, when we were kids; typical sisterhood rules I think), but I wouldn’t trade her as my sister for the world. She’s, in a word, amazeballs.
Steph, you’ll only read this because I’m sending it to you. (Among all the reasons I admire her, one is that she’s not so tech obsessed, which also makes me really really jealous.) I love you. And thank you for making my week. And Merry Christmas to you, too! xoxo
